I just went to the Milpitas Loving Hut for the second or third time with some friends last night. We shared a bunch of dishes. The tofu club sandwich is a complete winner in my book. Spicy Cha Cha (batter fried "shrimp" from yam flour) was awesome. A Vietnamese Soup (Chua something?) was incredible. The decor is amazing -- all shiny and sparkling. Service was great during visit too.
I love Herbivore, it is one of the places I make special effort to go to when I drive up from the Peninsula. One thing I love is the complete American melting pot take on vegan food. There are foods representing many cultures, including some American favorites, done in a vegan style. My fave at the moment is the soy shwarma. I give it 4 because of decor, which is cold and not comforting.
This place has a party vibe unlike any other veg restaurant i've ever been to -- like going to the hottest restaurant in town in the midst of happy hour. It is warm, cozy and inviting. The tables invite the opportunity to meet new people -- or not as is your preference. The food -- fabulous! My favorites are the pizzas (marinara and pesto) and the mocha cheesecake could win awards.
I haven't been to the actual place yet, but friends brought me some stuff from there. The Shepherds' Pie was really delish (I single handedly ate about 3 of them at a recent party). Also the "chicken" and "avocado-BLT" sandwiches on french roll were good too. It has a different menu than the Miliptas Loving Hut. Only 4 stars since I haven't visited the actual place yet.
