| Layonna Vegetarian | How am I the first to review this place?! It is the best Chinese in the city. Full service restaurant with white tablecloths, attractive decor, elegant authentic dishes, and courteous service. No lunch menu, so same prices/portions as dinner. Brown rice option and complimentary tea. Think Shangri La, only better! Bok Choy Garden across street and Healthy Haven is 2 blocks away on Geary. | 2006-11-30 |
| Shangri-La | Unassuming decor, but amazing food. Favorite dishes include the sweet and sour spareribs, spicy shrimp, and duck on iron plate. Worth the trip to the Outer Sunset. | 2006-11-28 |
| Cha-Ya | Big menu, but dishes can be bland. I prefer Minako, just a few blocks away for veggie sushi & Japanese cuisine, but Cha Ya has more seating, so its an excellent backup plan. | 2006-11-28 |
| Mijita | Options are neither inexpensive nor veg-friendly. Authentic but limited veggie options. | 2005-08-02 |
| Hulu House | Not as good as Shangrala, which is 10 blocks away, but Hulu House has great soups, passable entrees, and is an average 100%-veg menu option. | 2005-01-15 |
| Jay's Cheesesteak | Choices of 6 different seitan sandwiches, including BBQ, teryaki, cherry, cheese 'steak', etc. The guy at the grill was very attentive and carefully cleaned a nice spot for my seitan. | 2004-07-19 |
| Vege House | Not a sit-down place, but great 'to go' food. Very inexpensive 'authentic veggie' Chinese. 6 big pieces of Chili tofu for $1! And the veggie Pho may be the best in the city. | 2004-07-19 |
| Urban Forage - Mission | The interrior is beautiful. While the portions are small, the menu isn't. The guy at the next table saying "I have a feeling this will become my new favorite place," and I can see why. | 2004-06-20 |
| Golden Era | My favorite place to go for lunch. One #48 with brown rice please. | 2004-06-20 |
| New Ganges | The warm carrot pudding and the samosas are the best I've ever had. The service and other dishes and hit and miss. | 2004-06-20 |
| Mariachi's | The best veg friendly Mexican food in the city. Don't miss the soy churrizo burrito or the vegan horchata drink, both are off the regular menu. | 2004-06-20 |
| Minako Organic Japanese Cuisine | Who would have thunk the best Japanese would be in the Mission? Menu has a slew of veg/vegan dishes, offers veggie eel, and has inventive maki rolls. Be adventerous, but be prepared to wait. A while. | 2004-06-20 |
| Empress Sarah's / Reggae Runnins | Limited menu, but the Empress treats her guests well. The food is freshly made to order and high quality. A piece of the Caribbean in the city. More of a snackette than eat-in dining. | 2004-06-20 |
| MaggieMudd | Maggie's has soy ice cream, sorbetto, gelatto, and regular ice cream. All are locally made. Soy ice cream is offered in numeous rotating flavors. Faves are pumpkin, lychee coconut, & cinnamon crunch. | 2004-06-20 |
