| Herbivore | We used to love the brunch but the quality is just too inconsistent. Dinner is horrible with slow and inattentive staff, substitutions without informing you, random pieces of food in your dish indicating a messy kitchen, wilty salad placed on top of the pasta, etc. And so many of the dishes are really bland. Believe me, we gave them MANY tries. Can't do it anymore. | 2007-07-20 |
| Saturn Cafe | Update: I love getting the mushroom burger with steak fries and a chocolate milkshake made with about a pint of ice cream. The new decor is very nice and bathrooms are pleasant now. However, the service is full of "personality" and attitude that makes me not go there very often. Long waits to be seated or give order w/o an acknowledgement from staff that they know you're waiting. | 2006-12-20 |
| Sol Food | Fast serivice, friendly staff, delicious food that is always fresh. Ask they have coconut milk pudding. They just set up more tables outside. We've been five times so far!
Update: They have now opened a full-size restaurant just one block away from this lunch counter location on Lincoln at Third st. | 2006-12-20 |
| Cha-Ya | I'm so glad they opened in SF! My favorite Japanese restaurant ever. Much more room than in Berkeley. I'd also like the lights changed. I'm going there tonight! Cash only is annoying. | 2006-05-09 |
| Axum Cafe | Mediocre food - very runny with little taste. Dirty store. | 2006-02-08 |
| Ali Baba's Cave | Huge, filling falafel sandwiches on Lavosh bread with eggplant and potatoes. Nice and cheap, too. Be careful if you have allergies as requests for items to be left out is often forgotten. | 2006-02-08 |
| Samovar Tea Lounge | I had the ginger-tofu maki bowl, which was amazing - delicate tofu, Oolong rice, crisp nori, and butternut squash/yellow squash pickles. Cool peppermint lavendar tea was earthy but good. | 2005-06-28 |
| Fellini | Loved the brunch! The coffee drinks are delicious, tofu scramble is light and fluffy, lots of organic ingredients, many options. It just opened 2/12 so they're open to suggestions. Potatoes underdone | 2005-02-27 |
| Papalote | We went, all excited, but decided not to order because the bar where they put all of the fixin's in was really messy - there was cheese and sour cream mixed into the veggies, etc. Could be good... | 2004-10-08 |
| Whole Foods Market | Amazing fresh soft vegan ginger snap cookies in the bakery! Salad bar is neat and clean. (Near the movie theater with great selection of classics and the organ!) | 2004-06-25 |
| Cafe Eritrea D'Afrique | Wow!! We've been 4 times and will keep going. Really fresh food with great flavors. Favs: hummus, fava beans, collard greens!!! The only problem was a long wait on sat. night (30 minutes). | 2004-06-22 |
| New Ganges | Food was delicious. Service was AWFUL. The owner wouldn't leave us alone. He made us try things and rate them when we just wanted to eat in peace. Won't be going back because of it but it was tasty | 2004-06-17 |
| Bok Choy Garden | Great if you like very bland food. I'd much rather go to Golden Era. | 2004-06-17 |
| Geranium | Mashed potatoes were great and the barely fried okra was our favorite thing. Hubbie liked his meatloaf but my seitan was not worthy of mention. Need to mark which items are vegan. Disappointing. | 2004-06-17 |
| Millennium | Entrees were a bit complicated - too many flavors in each dish. But still tasty and the dssert was AMAZING! I had bread pudding with huckleberry ice cream. Wish we could afford to go more often. | 2004-06-17 |
| MaggieMudd | We had two flavors each, which were pretty good. However, almost every flavor available when we went was chocolate-related. Almost too rich. | 2004-05-23 |
| Golden Era | My favorite Asian restaurant! Vegan flan and drinks, heavy on the fake meat but it's very tasty. I like garlic beef, caramelized chicken & Pho soup. | 2004-05-23 |
| Neecha Thai | We love this place! Our vegan friends from LA eat here every day that they are in SF. It's cheap and delicious! You can't go wrong. Quick service. | 2004-05-23 |
| Shangri-La | Mustard Greens were extremely good. However, almost every dish/cup/silverware we had were really dirty, which put us off for good. | 2004-05-22 |
| Cha-Ya | Excellent food, beautifully prepared. Can be a BIG wait; then all the food comes at once. But I love this place! Large variety of foods | 2004-05-21 |
| Sparks | My only problem with Sparks is that its quality isn't consitent. When it's good, it's the BEST food ever! When it's not, it's so-so. Great staff! | 2004-05-21 |
| Sacramento Natural Foods Co-Op | Great overall selection and staff. Not as many vegan selections in the salad bar as I'd like. Good fresh breads and pies. Organic produce variety. | 2004-05-21 |
| Whole Foods Market | Make sure to try the Vegan Apple Spice muffins in the bakery. And they have Rudi's Cinnamon Raisin bread (vegan, no nuts!) and hot dog/hambur. buns | 2004-05-21 |
| Greens Restaurant | Great for veggies, not for vegan. Vegan brunch was tofu stir fry?! while veggies had pancakes, waffles, potatoes, etc. Try Herbivore instead if vegan. | 2004-05-21 |
| Juicey Lucy's | I haven't tried the food yet but the desserts and drinks are wonderful. Try the sherry creme/chocolate cakes! | 2004-05-21 |
| Minako Organic Japanese Cuisine | Delicious food - vegan is prepared separate from fish. However, be prepared for a very long wait - sometimes a few hours to get all your food. | 2004-05-21 |
| Rainbow Grocery | I love this store! It is all veg except for those items above and what a wonderful selection! LOTS of environmentally-friendly products. | 2004-05-21 |
| VegNews Magazine | I haven't seen the new subscription format but I loved their old format - great articles and reviews. A lot of issues covered. | 2004-05-21 |
| Donna's Tamales | I buy these from Whole Foods and they steam really well for a quick, tasty meal. | 2004-05-21 |
