Ultimate Guide Reviews
Karma The food is Nepalese, delicious and only $5.95 an item. 5 of the 6 menu items are vegan. The "momo" (dumplings/potstickers) were just scrumptious with a dipping sauce that was very flavorful. The noodle soup was delicious; too, & a huge portion. Order ahead if you're in a hurry because the owner makes everything fresh from scratch. Mostly to-go; it's tiny; one table inside. A true vegan find! 5 stars 2008-12-28
Peace Cafe Sad to say, the new management and menu is no longer vegan-friendly. Gone are the vegan crepes, cookies and soymilk. The only vegan item on the menu is chili. The staff was puzzled by vegan inquiries. While my guests and I were attempting to eat, the staff was arguing loudly! Very unpleasant and disappointing. 1 stars 2008-07-21
Other Avenues As a Sunset District-er, Other Avenues is my #1 source of vegan organic food. A $25 red card gives the shopper a 5% discount for 6 months; prices are very reasonable. The staff is super-helpful. There are vegan foods in every department. Special: tthe variety of vegan yogurt brands and a superb selection of herbal teas. A-1 produce. Veggie books, skin/hair, vitamins, kitchen supplies, too. 5 stars 2007-07-21
Bok Choy Garden I attended a dinner here under the new ownership on 4/13/07. The flavorful food and the attentive table service by Ken (the manager) were both outstanding. The prices were incredibly reasonable. My favorite dish here remains the tasty stuffed shitake mushrooms. This place has been a favorite of mine under both the former and current management. Highly recommended. 5 stars 2007-04-14
Lydia's Kitchen Cafe The menu had so many appealing raw and vegan selections that it took 5 minutes just to decide what to order. My meal, a creative raw lasagna, and a yam appetizer and orange-pineapple-mango drink, was superb. My friend also had a delicious meal. Carob-banana shake yummy, too. Great service & charming ambience. Reasonable prices. Highly recommended! 5 stars 2006-08-07
Medicine New-Shojin Eatstation I would not return. I only ate there one time, but my meal was too salty & too oily. The portions were dainty and the check was astronomical. 100% long benches, no chairs: thus, no back support and no privacy from other parties. Servers pretentious. I was so buoyed that there was a new vegan restaurant downtown, and had high hopes, but then was sorely disappointed with the actual experience. 2.5 stars 2006-07-18
Cha-Ya Outstanding super-delicious and creative vegan food, helpful service, reasonable prices given the good ingredients and the attention to detail. The baked pear dessert is pure heaven. Only drawback is a long wait to be seated (it's small), but totally worth the wait. 5 stars 2006-07-18
Feel Real Cafe I love Feel Real. The food is out of this world: the magic combination of healthful and delicious. The staff is awesome. The music somewhat loud, but otherwise, this is a perfect vegan place. 4.5 stars 2005-11-29
