| Boo Koo | I really wanted to like this place, but despite lots of vegan items, it's fairly mediocre at best. Fresh rolls were decent, but poorly wrapped. Spicy Dan's Peanut Delight was heavy on the sauce but light on flavor. Gado Gado was also too saucy but at least had better flavor. Both bowls could've used more veggies. Didn't try the banh mi, but after this meal, I'm in no hurry to go back. | 2011-01-12 |
| Symphonie | Went on a Saturday night and we were the only people in the place for a while. It was strange for a restaurant to be empty on a Saturday night but after eating the food it was obvious why. Everything we ate was mediocre. Nothing great, nothing horrible, but overpriced for the quantity and quality of the food. We were big fans of New World Vegan in Oakland, but this doesn't even come close. | 2010-08-12 |
| Encuentro Café and Wine Bar | The food and service at Encuentro were fantastic with plenty of vegan options. Fresh ingredients prepared perfectly. Everything from salads, soup, socca and sandwiches were delicious. Waitstaff was friendly, informative and willing to make almost anything vegan. I brought some non-veg friends here and they loved it as much as much as I did. Didn't try the desserts...next time! | 2010-05-11 |
| Gracias Madre | Mixed experience here. Our two favorite dishes were the cauliflower gratin and the Mexican wedding cookies. Entrees were ok, but under seasoned and not super flavorful. Portions are generous, food arrived really hot and service was friendly. I might go back if in the neighborhood but I wouldn't say it's worth a special trip, especially with so many other great vegan options in the area. | 2010-03-25 |
| Ubuntu | The produce is fresh and the preparations are clean, allowing the flavor of the main ingredients to really shine. On the night we went there were plenty of vegan starters and cold plates as well as a few vegan (or vegan minus the diary ingredients) options for hot plates. If the prices weren't so steep I'd give them an extra half star, but $12 for a big cracker topped with arugula is a bit much. | 2008-01-06 |
| Medicine New-Shojin Eatstation | SF has needed a restaurant like this for a long time. The food is fresh and the preparations are simple, tasty and clean. A bit pricey for the portion sizes. Real, minimally processed healthy food. | 2005-10-27 |
| Sol Food | Puerto Rican food is rarely vegan friendly, but this little joint is a welcome exception. Their (all vegan) vegetarian plate is a tasty combo of pink beans with rice, greens, avocado and plantains. | 2005-02-12 |
| Paradise | Although Paradise is no longer a strictly vegetarian restaurant, they have a huge vegan selection of Vietnamese dishes. | 2004-05-10 |
