Green Papaya The food I had here was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Please note that at one point it was discovered that they were using shrimp paste in a few of their dishes however I have since confirmed with a member of the waitstaff that they are no longer using shrimp paste as of 3/7/11 2.5 stars 2011-03-08
Gracias Madre excellent food, excellent service, great atmosphere. They grow most of their ingredients on their own farm. This place is wonderful! 4.5 stars 2009-12-27
Encuentro Caf and Wine Bar great atmosphere, great food, lots of vegan options, reasonable prices and super nice staff. 4.5 stars 2009-12-22
The Usual Suspects Cafe excellent food, great service, very nice fun clean atmosphere. The chefs are vegan and the are very friendly. This place has it all! 5 stars 2008-05-31
Frisee Restaurant I have had dinner and brunch here. The vegan offerings for dinner were limited but tasty and a bit overpriced for the entree. The Soup, however, was amazing and fairly priced. I was disappointed with their tofu scramble brunch selection but I spoke with the owner/head chef and gave him some pointers so hopefully it will improve with time. 3 stars 2008-02-09
Mixt Greens Pretty good. I like the fact that most everything is organic. Too bad they don't have any vegan sandwiches on the menu. Salad choices could be better. 3 stars 2007-03-15
Feel Real Cafe twice now I have called and was assured they would be open and twice now I have taken a long trip out there by train and they were closed. This was infuriating to say the least. Telling a customer you will be open and then closing is completey inconsiderate which is too bad because the food is really quite good. If only they cared more about their customers. 1 stars 2006-12-25
Medicine New-Shojin Eatstation Excellent food, a nice decor and excellent service are the highlights of this traditional Japanese restaurant. Some sustainably harvested and recycled wood was used in the construction. 4.5 stars 2006-07-23
Amarin Thai Cuisine Some of the best Thai food I have ever had. 4.5 stars 2006-07-23
Judahlicious very vegan friendly and very good. They now have raw vegan soft serve and it's amazing! You have to try it!! They use all organic fruits and veggies and have both cooked and raw options. Overall, I'd say very good. 4 stars 2006-07-23
Dosa This is some of the best, if not the best, Indian food I have ever had. They are very vegan friendly and the staff was very knowledgable about what was and was not vegan. One bad thing - too noisy. 4.5 stars 2006-05-26
The Plant Cafe Organic This place is really great except for the fact that not everything is vegan but the items that are vegan (and there are many!) are clearly marked. The food is fresh and delicious and mostly organic. 4 stars 2006-01-27
BayLeaf Cafe This food here is great and the service is excellent. The mighty carrot roll is a real winner. Casual atomsphere. Good prices. I always enjoy this place. 4 stars 2005-08-18
Geranium Excellent food and good service. Lovely atmosphere but a little overpriced. 4.5 stars 2005-08-12
Lanesplitter Pizza & Pub The food is pretty good but not great. Fun atmosphere. 3 stars 2005-08-12
Supreme Vegan This restaurant has no ambiance whatsoever. The service could be better. The food isn't great but it's pretty good. 2 stars 2005-04-01
Fellini I went here for brunch only two weeks after they began offering brunch. It was just okay. I gave them some suggestions on how to make it better and will go back to see if they have improved. 3 stars 2005-03-06
Manzanita Restaurant Very good food. Decor is a bit sterile. Service is very friendly. 4 stars 2005-03-06
Otsu A great place to find vegan shoes and other accessories. They mostly cater to young urban hipsters. Service is friendly and attentive. 4 stars 2004-07-30
Urban Forage - Castro Wonderful Food!!! Menu is a bit more limited than their other locations but everything I've had here is Excellent! A great addition to the neighborhood. 4 stars 2004-07-30
VegNews Magazine Excellent articles. They cover a broad range of issues and concerns within the vegan community. It's a great resource for vegans. It's only gotten better with each issue. 5 stars 2004-06-13
Urban Forage - Mission Really Delicious food, good service and a nice atmosphere add up to a great place to eat. I highly recommend this place! 4 stars 2004-05-30
Sparks Wonderful food, Super service and fair prices make Sparks a must for everyone. It's mostly if not all organic and run by people who seem to really care. Decor could be better. 4 stars 2004-05-26
Donna's Tamales Several very tasty vegan options and great, friendly service. All this and the wonderful atmospher of the bustling farmers market on Tuesdays at the Ferry Building in SF. A great experience. 4 stars 2004-05-26
Herbivore Herbivore is hit or miss. If you order the right items you can have a great meal. My faves are the spring rolls, schawarma, burrito & most sandwiches. 4 stars 2004-05-21
Millennium This is vegan fine dining at it's best. Creative, delicious, elegant food, tasteful atmosphere & great service. Superb! 5 stars 2004-05-21
Roxanne's extraordinary food! Roxanne's takes creativity to new heights. It's all raw & vegan and all terrific. Service is excellent as is the atmosphere. 5 stars 2004-05-21
Golden Era Good food but not great. I believe they use some ingredients that are not natural or healthful such as margarine. Tacky decor, mediocre service. 3 stars 2004-05-21
Ananda Fuara Good honest simple food. My faves are the Burrito, Infinite Blue, Hummus Wrap, veg burger & steamed veggies w/rice. Really Great service! Ugly decor. 3 stars 2004-05-21
San Francisco Soup Company while it is nice that they list dairy free soups on their menu, the quality of their soup is just okay. 2 stars 2004-05-21
Rainbow Grocery Excellent selection! Best Natural Foods store I've ever been to. You can find things here you can't find anywhere else. The one bad thing is the customer service can be spotty. It can be horrible. 4 stars 2004-05-21
MaggieMudd Lots of really great vegan ice creams! Super delicious. They also make vegan ice cream cakes that will knock your socks off. Service is mediocre. 4 stars 2004-05-21
Minako Organic Japanese Cuisine Truly delicious food! Wonderful service. Slow but I think it's only because they put so much care and love into their food. About half of the menu is vegan. 4 stars 2004-05-21
Urban Forage - Lower Haight Some tasty dishes here. Especially good are their desserts and smoothies. Almost everything is raw. They always have cooked brown rice with peanut sauce which is quite good. Service is spotty. 3 stars 2004-05-21
