Guess Who's Turning Three?
BAV will be celebrating its 3rd Anniversary/Birthday
this October! Please plan on joining us on Saturday, October
2nd at 5 pm for the big event. We intend to have an incredible
and highly edible vegan food party to celebrate. It will be in
San Mateo, in the community room complex where Lyman hosted the
Comedy VFP in 2003.
We will have special door prizes and lots of yummy
food. If you have ideas, etc., that you would like to contribute
to this special event, please feel free to email
us. In addition to BAV's 3rd Anniversary/Birthday, we will
also be celebrating:
- World Vegetarian Awareness Month
- World Farmed Animal Day (10/2)
- all of our October vegetarian/vegan anniversaries
- October birthdays
Please RSVP
so we can plan appropriately, and remember to let us know if you're
celebrating an Oct. b-day or veg*n anniversary.

Tell Arnie to Terminate Animal Cruelty! YES on
SB 1520!
Though several countries around the world have banned
force-feeding fowl, this is the first time this type of legislation
has made it this far in the U. S. SB 1520 makes the practice of
force-feeding ducks and geese illegal by 2012, and it also bans
the sale of the cruel product.
Gov. Schwarzenegger has received more calls to veto
the foie gras bill than to sign it. So, contacting his office
is not a mere formality, but a necessity if this bill is to pass.
Call now!
Please voice your support with the automated phone
system. It's quick and easy.

We are pleased to announce the start of our long-awaited

want to be vegan/vegetarian, but have questions or just want
to connect with others who are also making the same transition.
So please share information about this new program with your

But You Eat Fish, Don't You?!
Every vegetarian has heard this at least once or
twice ... unfortunately, many non-vegetarians (and even some 'vegetarians')
don't realize that fish are not a vegetable. Well, with many thanks
to Mat Thomas, hopefully the new Bay Area Vegetarians brochure
on this topic will set the record straight. Check it out!

is Rewarding!
We’ve gotten some great new prizes donated
for the Advocacy Rewards Program. So, now you can get out there

prizes, like a Swedish massage, or vegan meals and products delivered
to your door!
So join us for our next KFC leafleting on 9/25, letter writing
party (always the 3rd Thursday), or better yet -- organize a new
advocacy event in your neighborhood! Be sure to visit the events
